Your love for Mitt is apparent in every line. The wall wasn’t protecting you from loving her. It was protecting you from losing it while you were caring for her and carrying all the things that had to be carried. <3
I'm sorry Mitt has passed, dear Holly. I know how the wall feels, and I'm learning to accept it, but I know how heart-wrenching it is, to keep it up for years even. And then, when the flood comes, the relief is real. Hugs to you, my friend.
I’m so sorry about Mitt. ❤️🩹 I come from a religious group that never cries. To cry meant you were soft, even as a child. There was lots of sorrow when you live on a dairy farm, but I also attended a lot of funerals of family as a kid. No one cried, so as kids we’d laugh. Also a way to deal with grief. But of course we got in trouble for laughing.
There’s nothing wrong with you💛 Everyone processes grief and joy at different speeds and in different ways. I’d taught myself how to avoid crying until about the last 20 years. Now I cry easily, sometimes. But we need to allow people space and time to process their emotions, including ourselves. You are fine just as you are💛
Grief hits in strange and mysterious ways at times, and that’s ok. You do you. We all need those people who can hold things together while others fall apart. It’s usually days until grief hits me. And I really don’t do well with death of any kind, and that’s okay, too. 💛💛💛 You’re amazing and loving just as you are.
i am familiar with this wall, up until a few years ago i would only cry once enough terribly sad things compounded and there would be this eruption of feelings all tumbling over themselves. now my natural state is to tear up or cry at any precious, sad, sweet thing. i went on wellbutrin for a bit and i noticed that it brought the wall right back up - so even tho it had many benefits, i'm trying to live without its assistance. emotions are so tricky
Oh sweet Holly. I am so sorry to hear that mitt has passed. Walls protect us. You are awareness of it which means when you are ready you can find a way in. Don’t under estimate how valuable it can be to have someone in your corner who shows stoicism and strength in moments of difficulty. It’s not a weakness 🖤
So sorry to hear about Mitt, Holly. I don't cry either. Until I do. I've had a lot of the same feelings. When I do cry, I cry rivers. I've cried for animals a lot harder than people. They are a trigger.

Oh, Holly. It's so, so hard. I'm so sorry. Grief is such an unpredictable force. 🫂

I feel shutdown is only a temporary nervous system response due to constant overload. Feeling for you Holly x
