Beach towel
I’m thin, prim, and feminine
and made up of velour.
Charcoal grey,
and sea foam green,
to match the ocean floor.
I lie below a radiant sky.
The sand, a warm hand, offers me.
seagulls that circle above,
join the soundtrack of the sea.
I can hear them calling down
In squawks and chirps and wails.
But my thoughts are on my corner,
all scattered with sea shells.
A conch of cream with streaks of brown, clam-rose, coral, white.
And there, an auger whorled around
all gleaming in sunlight.
The sun blows down a torrid breath.
The air so hot it singes.
Oh, what I’d give for just one sip, of ocean on my fringes.
The tide begins to rise,
The waves come crashing in.
The water skims my border,
I’m blushing with chagrin.
Once you’ve tasted salt and sand
you’ll nary be the same.
In closet, through the winter drear.
I dream of aqua rain.

@Richard Pack now you know my secret Richard, you’re in the inner circle 😂
This is alive… I think it was all the colours, made it come so visually to life.
